In my mind
I fly
Sometimes
My body lighter
Than the air.
I lift off the ground
Faster
Than the speed of light
Wind in my face
Eyes closed
Chin up
Arms outstretched
Exhale.
It's so wonderful
When I can go
Into my space.
Can't nobody touch me.
I run, too,
And when I do
Wind in my locks
Sand and dirt kick up
Off my feet
Making dust storms
So sweet
I become invincible and invisible
Thru new paths
And old ones.
No blues.
I race
Like a beautiful gazelle
Swift and brown.
But
I can't tell you
'Bout this freedom.
Can't explain it.
I want to show you.
